Hooking Up Healthy Intensive & Social (Free/Pay What You Can)

October 9, 2016 @ 11:00 am - 11:00 pm

Hooking Up Healthy Intensive & Social
with Dr. Zhana, Ph.D. NYC-based sex researcher, writer, and educator and
Kenneth Play, Sex Educator/Sex Hacking Expert

From a Tinder swipe to a drunken frat party hookup, there has never been a time in recent history when casual sex was more prevalent, accepted, and easily available. It is therefore an imperative to arm ourselves with the right information and skills, backed by #LegitSexScience, to make smarter decisions about casual sex. Everyone deserves a healthy and authentic sex life, where they feel empowered and self-expressed.

Dr. Zhana has dedicated the past 10 years of her life to learning about casual sex and how to make it better. Earning a PhD from Cornell University, publishing in academic peer-reviewed journals, teaching Human Sexuality at NYU, and founding the Casual Sex Project, she’s sifted through hundreds of research studies and thousands of hookup stories. Her book, Hooking Up Healthy, is set to be released in early 2017.

With the help of Kenneth Play, Dr. Zhana has put together a comprehensive and interactive training that will help you make sense of your sexuality, find out if casual sex is right for you, and learn how to do it like a pro. In this intensive, for all genders and orientations, we will cover:

– Finding authenticity in casual sex

– Getting and giving pleasure

– Managing post-hookup chemical high

– Ensuring sexual health (Choosing your safer sex protocol)

– Negotiating consent

– Finding casual lovers

– Designing sustainable long-term relationships with casual sex

– Managing social stigma

– Developing long-term emotional fitness

The Intensive will be followed by a dinner, sexy social, and hot tub hangout at the gorgeous Hacienda Villa (address to be disclosed upon ticket purchase).

In the spirit of accessibility and inclusivity, all tickets are reserved on a “pay what you can” basis. There are costs associated with producing this Intensive, and we want to use the money to produce a really awesome, high-quality event, so if you have the means, please contribute what you can. We want inclusive, comprehensive sex education to be accessible to everybody who could benefit and don’t want cost to be a barrier to such invaluable information, but we appreciate any financial assistance in helping us bring this event to life. Suggested donation is $35-$50.

All tickets give you seats either downstairs for the live lecture in the event space or upstairs in the rest of the house with a view of multiple wall-length HD projections of the live-stream. Seating is first come, first serve. Projection areas include outdoor deck, cuddle puddle beds, and a beautiful living room. All tickets also include the lunch, dinner, social, and hot tub hangout.

Space is limited.
Reserve your spots here:

Ten volunteers are needed to help event preparation and cleanup (approximately one hour before doors open and one hour after event) in exchange for a guaranteed spot downstairs for the live lecture and bagels for breakfast during setup. Please email willow@kennethplay.com if you’d like to help us out!

In a new #fMRI study, researchers investigated neural correlates of responses to erotic stimuli in 26 heterosexual, 26 #bisexual, and 24 #homosexual women, ages 25–50. Results confirm other research on #sexualorientation: #lesbians (like #gay and straight men) show greater brain activation to images of women (vs. men), but hetero women’s brains are like those of #bisexuals, responding equally to male and female stimuli. The takeaway? Homosexual women have greater #gender bias in their responses to male and female erotic stimuli. Interestingly, this study is also the first of its kind to include bisexual women!
