Do gentlemen really prefer #blondes? A new #evopsych study with a sample of 110 male undergraduates (87% white) sought to find out. Results showed that hair color and to a lesser extent length *do* affect perceptions of personal characteristics. Specifically, lighter hair (#blond and #brunette) was associated with perceptions of #youth, #health and #attractiveness to a greater extent than was black hair, and generally led to more positive perceptions of relationship and parenting potential. The findings for hair length were somewhat less consistent, but they generally suggested that longer hair was associated with youth, enhanced relationship potential, perceptions of #promiscuity and somewhat diminished perceptions of parenting potential. The takeaway? For men, women’s hair can serve as a cue to desired relationship and parenting characteristics.
